We know life can feel overwhelming, with endless deadlines and commitments, and so we’ve made our therapy as flexible as possible. Unless you sign up for the video therapy sessions, there are no appointments to keep. You can complete your readings and activities whenever it’s convenient for you. Staying motivated can be difficult, and we don’t want to introduce unnecessary obstacles.
Some clients also choose digital therapy because it reduces the stigma that people may still attach to traditional therapy. Because our programs are all online, they can be completed discretely.
Finally, digital therapy helps to remove barriers. It makes mental health support available to those with mobility issues, or those residing in rural areas without easy access to a therapist’s office.

At Lightwell, we pride ourselves on having effective therapists, who are passionate about helping their clients achieve their goals. All our therapists have completed either a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited university. They’re registered as Psychologists, Psychological Associates, or Social Workers in their respective Canadian provinces. In order to be registered, they were required to complete the necessary education, examinations, training and practice. While their backgrounds vary, they all possess several years hands-on experience in addressing the specific concerns you’ve identified to us.

Our research has found that one of people’s biggest concerns with digitally-delivered therapy is that it feels mechanical and overly clinical. At Lightwell, we strive to understand the whole you. We want to learn about your successes and struggles, your hopes and fears. We want to hear about your dreams, and the obstacles you’ve faced in realizing them. In this way, we can give you a highly personalized, effective therapy experience.
We also set ourself apart by being among the only digitally-delivered therapy services to offer video therapy sessions to supplement our programs. We recognize that, at times, you may feel the need to connect with a therapist face-to-face; we want to be available for you.
Regulated healthcare professionals in Canada are required to maintain strict confidentiality. As such, Lightwell’s services are completely confidential, and information about you will not be released to any third party, without your explicit consent.
However, there are certain exceptions to confidentiality in which your personal information may be shared. These situations include: If you report harm to be done to yourself or someone else, if you report abuse of a child under the age of 16, if you disclose abuse by another regulated health practitioner (i.e., physician, surgeon, chiropractor, massage therapist, dentist, etc.), if your file is ordered by a court, if the College of Psychologists or another regulatory body requests access to your file for the purposes of assuring quality of care, or if you report unlawful conduct that resulted in harm or risk of harm to a resident of a long term care facility or retirement home. If such situations emerge, we would attempt to speak with you first if possible.
Prior to starting your Lightwell program, you will be provided with a written agreement that reviews our policy on confidentiality in greater detail.
Lightwell has thoughtfully selected technology including encryption to ensure that you and your data are kept safe and confidential. Our technology is PHIPA compliant. Please read our Privacy Policy for more information.

Payment can be made by credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and by debit (via PayPal). You’ll be issued an official invoice. In some cases, you will be able to use this invoice to obtain reimbursement from your extended health benefits provider.

Although referrals from doctors, clinics, hospitals, or other health professionals are welcomed, they are not required for you to get started at Lightwell.
